According to the breaking news issued by the official website of Aoni Production agency, voice actress Wakana Yamazaki, the voice of Ran Mouri, passed away on April 18 at the age of 61. The official statement published by her agency read: "We sincerely express our gratitude for the love and support she received throughout her life, and we inform you of this news with the utmost respect"..

The funeral was held in the presence of only close family members, in accordance with the family’s wish for privacy. The official Detective Conan website also released a condolence message for Ran Mouri’s voice actress, expressing gratitude for her nearly 30-year career and contributions, and confirming that Akemi Okamura, who temporarily filled in during Yamazaki’s medical treatment, will continue to voice the character going forward.

Alongside the official statement from the anime website, series author Gosho Aoyama expressed his condolences for the passing of the voice actress and praised her career and her role in the success of the character. He added that it is deeply sad that he will no longer be able to hear that gentle and reassuring voice, which had always been by his side as if it were something natural and comforting to the ear.

Wakana Yamazaki was born on 21 March in Kanagawa Prefecture. She is best known for her role as Ran Mouri in *Detective Conan* since 1996. She also previously voiced Nami in *One Piece* from episodes 70 to 79 during Akemi Okamura’s maternity leave, who is the original voice actress of the character.
