Netflix Strengthens Its Anime Presence with a New MAPPA Partnership

In a surprising move, Netflix has announced a new strategic partnership with anime studio "MAPPA" aimed at producing a slate of upcoming original anime titles, which will stream exclusively and simultaneously worldwide on the platform.

Netflix explained that the partnership will allow both companies to collaborate more comprehensively, from story development to merchandise and related products, reflecting their shared goal of delivering fully integrated anime projects on a global scale.

Partnership Details

Netflix confirmed that the new MAPPA titles will be broadcast exclusively on the platform worldwide upon release, as part of a broader expansion plan aimed at strengthening its presence in the anime market.

The company also noted that over half of its subscribers watch anime on the platform, with viewership having tripled over the past five years, highlighting the growing demand for this type of content.

Previous Collaborations

Netflix has previously announced multiple partnerships with Japanese anime studios, including MAPPA as well as NAZ and Science SARU. During the prior collaboration with MAPPA, the platform streamed several well-known titles, including:
