Following the controversy surrounding the absence of a new chapter in the February issue of Jump Square magazine for "The New Prince of Tennis", the sequel manga by author Takeshi Konomi, the series’ staff released an official statement revealing that the hiatus was caused by poor management on the part of the editor in charge. Konomi had been working for some time on a separate illustration project, but mismanagement led to various issues that ultimately stalled the project.

This situation directly affected the progress of the manga, forcing the staff to place the series on a temporary hiatus. The statement also confirmed that Konomi began working on the chapter scheduled for publication in the March issue on February 4, adding that the editorial team will continue to work closely with him to deliver an even higher-quality story as the series approaches its climax.

Manga Information

Konomi launched the sequel series in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine in 2009, and the 46th compiled volume was released on January 5. He also announced last July that he plans to conclude the serialization within one year. The original series was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2008.

The story follows middle school tennis player Ryōma Echizen as he faces powerful rivals in his pursuit of reaching the national tournament.
